Connector reliability test project and test standard

Connector detection generally involves the following items: plug force test, durability test, insulation resistance test, vibration test, mechanical impact test, cold and heat shock test, gas mixture corrosion test and so on.

The connector specific testing items are as follows:

(1) connector pulling force test

Reference standard: EIA-364-13

Objective: to verify whether the connector's insertion force is in line with product specifications.

Principle: insert or pull out the connector according to the specified rate, and record the corresponding force value.

(two) connector durability test

Reference standard: EIA-364-09

Objective: To evaluate the effect of repeated insertion and withdrawal on connectors and simulate the insertion and withdrawal of connectors in actual use.

Principle: continuously inserting connectors according to specified rates until the specified number.

(three) connector insulation resistance test

Reference standard: EIA-364-21

Objective: to verify whether the insulation performance of the connector meets the requirements of the circuit design or is subjected to high temperature, humidity and other environmental stresses, and whether its resistance is in accordance with the relevant technical conditions.

Principle: voltage is applied to the insulation part of the connector, so that the resistance value of the insulation part surface or internal leakage current is presented.

(four) voltage tolerance test of connector

Reference standard: EIA-364-20

Objective: to verify whether the connector can work safely at the rated voltage and can withstand the ability of overpotential so as to assess the suitability of the connector insulation or insulation clearance.

Principle: between the contact parts of the connector and the contact, the specified voltage is applied between the contact and the outer shell, and the specified time is maintained to observe whether the sample has the phenomenon of breakdown or discharge.

(five) contact resistance test of connector

Reference standard: EIA-364-06/EIA-364-23

Objective: to verify the resistance produced by the current flowing through the contact surface of the contact piece.

Principle: through the specified current to the connector, the voltage drop at the two ends of the connector is measured to get the resistance value.

(six) connector vibration test

Reference standard: EIA-364-28

Objective: to verify the effect of vibration on the performance of electrical connectors and components.

Vibration type: random vibration, sinusoidal vibration.

(seven) mechanical impact test of connector

Reference standard: EIA-364-27

Objective: to verify the ability of the connector and its components to withstand impact or assess whether the structure is firm.

Test waveform: half sine wave, square wave.

(eight) cold and hot impact test of connector

Reference standard: EIA-364-32

Objective: To evaluate the influence of connector on the functional quality under rapid and large temperature difference.

(nine) testing of the combined temperature and humidity of the connector

Reference standard: EIA-364-31

Objective: To evaluate the effect of connector on connector performance after storage in high temperature and high humidity environment.

(ten) high temperature test for connector

Reference standard: EIA-364-17

Objective: To evaluate whether the connector and insulator performance change in the high temperature environment after a specified time.

(eleven) connector salt fog test

Reference standard: EIA-364-26

Objective: To evaluate the salt spray corrosion resistance of connectors, terminals and coatings.

(twelve) corrosion test of connector gas mixture

Reference standard: EIA-364-65

Objective: To evaluate the corrosion resistance of connectors in different concentrations of mixed gases and their effects on their properties.
