The difference between the metal and the plastic connector of the waterproof connector
The structure of waterproof connector is generally divided into metal contact conductor and shell metal. The mechanical life of waterproof connector is the life of insertion and withdrawal, and the industry standard is usually prescribed 500~1000 times. When the mechanical life of this regulation is reached, the contact resistance, insulation resistance and pressure resistance of the waterproof connector are generally divided into the metal contact conductor and the shell metal.
The metal is different from the plastic (nylon TA66) shell.

The mechanical life of waterproof connector is the life of insertion and withdrawal, and the industry standard is usually prescribed 500~1000 times. When the mechanical life of this regulation is reached, the contact resistance, insulation resistance and pressure resistance of the waterproof connector should not exceed the standard value, which is not very different from the plastic shell.
2. electrical performance
The rated voltage, rated current, contact resistance, insulation resistance and so on are in accordance with the required standard values, which is the same as that of plastic housing.
3. environmental parameters
Environmental parameters mainly include ambient temperature, humidity, temperature change, atmospheric pressure and corrosive environment. The environment of the waterproof connector has a significant impact on its performance in the process of use, storage and transportation, so it is better to choose the corresponding metal shell according to the actual environmental conditions.
4. end connection mode
Termination means the connection of metal contact between the male and female connectors of the waterproof connector and the wire and cable. Metals, like plastic shells, are divided into welding, crimping, winding, piercing, and screws. A comprehensive analysis shows that the performance of metal and nylon PA66 plastic housing varies little except for the need of shielding function. The cost of plastic to metal shell is lower and the structure is more reasonable.
